Vieux Chateau Certan 2010 Climbs to 18-Month Liv-Ex High

After seven difficult years in Bordeaux, it is estates beyond the First Growths showing some spark of revival. At one point Chateau Lafite Rothschild was setting record highs due to interest from the Chinese, but between the 2008 financial crisis,  2010 prices being a turn-off and less stellar 2001 and 2013 vintage sales, the region has declined from 2010's 95.2% of market share to 74.2% this year to date. Those who buy fine wine are showing willingness to look to other chateaux however, and the sale of a case of Vieux Chateau Certan 2010 for $3,300 on the Liv-ex market is the highest for the vintage in the last 18 months, perhaps a sign that the decline is slowing.
