Top Riesling

Top Riesling

by Westgarth Wines July 18, 2019

The most expensive wines made of Riesling happen to be the same wines that populate a list of Germany’s premium wine offerings. Within the list, the Mosel has a stranglehold on the market with 6 of the 10 wines named being from there. Egon Müller takes top honors. His Schwarzhofberger Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (say it three times fast), made of botrytized grapes in minute quantities has risen into the 14,000’s in recent years. Joh. Jos. Prum takes spots numbers two and three with a Wehlener Sonnenhuhr Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese and a Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese, before ceding once again to Egon Müller. Not until sixth place do we see a non-Mosel wine, with a wine from the Rheingau. Click through to read the rest of the list!
