Top Chardonnay

Top Chardonnay

Chardonnay may clutter the wine aisle at the supermarket, but if you buy fine wine you are probably not looking for it there. Wine-Searcher recently conducted a robust assessment of who makes the world's best Chardonnay. They aggregated scores from not just their website, but from critics around the world to finalized their list. As you can imagine, Chardonnay from the Cote de Beaune in Burgundy continues to dominate, taking five of the top ten spots. A Cote d'Or and a Chablis Grand Cru were other Burgundy winners. California nabs the three spots, with two Sonoma wines and one from Napa.

Surprises include that for the first time DRC is not in the top ten, and that a Champagne did not make the cut. The number one wine was Leroy Domaine d'Auvenay Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru. The Chevalier-Montrachet vineyard also came in third, with an offering from stalwart Domaine Leflaive. Click through for the details on the wines rounding out the list!
