Sustainability in Champagne
The Comité Champagne has announced intent for 100% of Champagne to be sustainable by 2030. The process began in 2014 with the Viticulture Durable en Champagne, whose reference manual contains specific guidance for Champagne houses. Leaders in adopting sustainable practice include Lanson and Bollinger, so if you want to buy fine wine with an eye to the environment, look for them! While the plans for sustainability are not without controversy, they certainly seem like a step in the right direction.
