DRC Doubts
Sotheby’s has taken a bottle out of their upcoming auction after a comment questioning why a bottle of Romanée-Conti had a “Joseph Drouhin” label on it. It seems it could be easily explained. Drouhin used to be a very important distributor of DRC. However, if you purchase fine wines, with their accompanying high price tags, you want to be sure of the authenticity and provenance of the bottle, particularly in light of famed frauds by The White Club and Rudy Kurniawan. Therefore, Sotheby’s will not be auctioning the bottle until they have further investigated the bottle’s origins.
