Penfolds for a Price
In 1951, Max Schubert’s secret experiment made its debut in the form of Penfolds. It is unclear how many of the cherished 1951 Penfolds Grange Hermitage still exist, but one set records being sold for $78,000. Clearly buyers are not shying from buying fine wine online, as the buyer purchased it in an online auction. The seller received the bottle as a gift, so it has pristine provenance having only changed hands once. More record sales of Penfold’s were set that day, including a bottle signed by Max Schubert himself. It’s a brand that is here to stay.
