(Nearly) Priceless Wines

After two decades of assessing which wines are commanding top dollar, Wine-Searcher has put together a list of wines with the highest average price over the span of the last twenty years. While these days if you buy fine wine you know that Burgundy is going to be priciest when you take a step back you’ll see that in the top ten list the region only occupies three spots albeit it’s no surprise that Domaine de la Romanée Conti takes two of them. Another expectation-breaker is that the two California wines aren’t from Napa. At the top of the list sits a bottle of Penfold’s that came with the promise that someone from the company would come open your bottle for you—and only twelve were made!
