Formerly of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, now at the head of Domaine Leroy, Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy is perhaps the most revered winemaker in Burgundy. And yet she argues that there is “no winemaker or winemaking in Burgundy”. In this land of fine red wine, she sees herself as a guardian of the grapes. But ultimately the grapes are in charge. Furthermore, she believes she must express her love of the vines to them. They are in essence her children and the wines of Domaine Leroy take after their mother: delicate and focused, strong and beautiful. Read on for favorite picks from the 2015 vintage!
