Jayer’s Sells All

The cellar of late Burgundian winemaker Henri Jayer sold out at an auction held by Baghera Auctions in Geneva. Jayer’s collection included wines from 1970 to 2001, the most expensive of the lot being 15 magnums of Vosne-Romanée Cros-Parantoux dating between 1978 and 2001. All and all the sales totaled 35 million dollars—more than expected. It may seem excessive, but to those who cherish Jayer’s wines, known for their power and finesse, it is worth it. The family hopes that those who purchase fine wine do so to drink it—wine was made for drinking and Jayer’s work is bound to bring great rewards to though who do.
