Bordeaux Hailstorms
Hailstorms hit Bordeaux hard in May, spelling trouble for the yields of an appellation coming off a year of record low harvests. Hail first struck Pessac-Leognan on the Left Bank, then Cotes de Bourg and Cotes de Blaye on the Right Bank. Some winemakers lost their entire crops. Prices had already risen 16% in the first half of the 2017/2018 season and these losses might bode yet higher prices for those looking to purchase the fine red wine of Bordeaux.
