Cristal Changes

Cristal Changes

by Westgarth Wines May 06, 2019

The 2018 vintage of Cristal will be an unusual one, blending 57 crus, as opposed to the usual 45. The change is the result Champagne Louis Roederer’s chef de caves Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon tasting the base wines and finding 57 vineyards had produced juice too fine to be ignored. You can look to buy this fine wine in several years, as it will be aged in the cellars of the house below Reims first. In the meantime, look for Roederer’s 2012 Brut Nature later this year and a still wine, ‘Coteaux Champenois’ next year.
