Changes at Chateau Latour
Bordeaux is an appellation steeped in tradition, but Chateau Latour, a First Growth of the 1855 Classification, is not scared to make changes. Since 2015 the vineyard area known as Enclos, where the grapes in the chateau’s Grand Vin are grown, has been converting to organic viticulture. What does this mean for those of us who buy this fine wine? It means grapes not treated with insecticides or herbicides. Only orgnanic fertilizer is permitted and only when absolutely needed. No doubt the wine will continue to shine, and now it is a bit kinder to the earth to boot.
