Champagne: Is a Rosy Future Ahead?

Champagne’s sales have suffered of late, and while the 2018 vintage is being touted as a valuable asset to reserves and quality levels, the region is looking for corrections that could stir profits. At the heart of the debate is the push away from herbicides. The Association Viticole Champenoise announced a commitment to being free of chemical herbicides by 2025 and 100 percent vineyard certified by 2030. These goals are currently being debated by many of the winemakers who doubt effective these measures would be.
