Burgundy Frost and Fire
Heroic efforts to mitigate frost damage were made in Burgundy the weekends of April 4th and 13th. Vintners turned to fires, sprinklers and smudge pots to fight the cold in both Chablis and the Côte d’Or, where the temperature dropped as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Winemakers report that it may be too early to assess the damage, but that conditions were most threatened in the Côte d’Or.
