Bordeaux and Napa Face Off
Napa and Bordeaux may have much in common, from highly allocated wines to famous wineries, but can one region be considered superior to another? There are many things Bordeaux has Napa beat on. They have been making wine longer, have more chateaux, and more visitors. Napa, meanwhile, can boast a higher price tag on the most expensive wine ever sold: a 1992 Screaming Eagle went for $500,000 vs. Bordeaux’s $304,375 Château Cheval Blanc. The dominant grape is different too, with Napa focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux planting more Merlot. Does any one thing make one area better than the other? Maybe its time for you to buy fine wine and conduct your own taste test!
