Bordeaux from the Barrel: 2017 En Primeur Results

by Westgarth Wines April 13, 2018

The barrel tasting of the 2017 Bordeaux vintage did not reveal as many sublime wines as the previous two years. To make matters worse, a less perfect growing season wreaked havoc on yields. Those who partake, however, will find fresh, high acid reds, concentrated whites and excellent dessert wines.  Wine Enthusiasts Roger Voss pointed out samples he found exemplary. First up was Chateau Léoville-Barton. Also in the top ten were dependable producers like Pavie, Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comptesse de Lalande for reds, Chateau Latour-Martillac for white and Chateau de Fargues for Sauternes. While the selection may be scarcer, there is still plenty to be found for those wanting to buy premium wine.
