Record-Breaking Harvest
A great heatwave is affecting the entire northern hemisphere, creating concern for holding off on harvest. Indeed this may be the earliest harvest ever for fine wine appellations such as Bordeaux, where Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris may begun to be picked as early as next week. Even later-ripening varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Semillon are halfway through "veraison" or the color change they undergo when ripping.
