Behind the Cristal Ball

Behind the Cristal Ball

by Westgarth Wines January 10, 2019

Frédéric Rouzard, a direct descendant of Louis Roederer spoke to the recent changes the champagne house has made. Roederer, best known for its tête de cuvee, Cristal, released its 2008 vintage in 2018 to much praise. Rouzard cited the house’s choice to convert to biodynamic and organic vineyards as a step in showing the purest expression of the grapes. He credits the house’s flexibility and control in part to being a family business. Another new endeavor of the company is a zero-dosage Champagne made in partnership with Philippe Starck.
