Barbaresco’s Finest

Barolo tends to get the glory when it comes to Piedmont’s Nebbiolo offerings, but don’t underestimate Barbaresco. Dubbed queen to Barolo’s king, Barbaresco tends to be less powerful than Barolo, but there are many producers making transcendent and age-worthy wines. A roundup in Forbes of the 25 of the best producers in the area led with Gaja, Bruno Giacosa, and the cooperative producer Produttori del Barbaresco. Also on the list of Italian fine wines are the powerful Pio Cesare, the concentrated and complex Fiorenzo Nada, and the sometimes controversial La Spinetta. Pick some up and try them out!
