Ausone Past and Future

Chateau Ausone, one of the four renowned Premier Grand Cru Classé ‘A’ estates in Bordeaux’s St-Emilion has a long history dating back to around 310 BCE when it is believed the land belonged to its namesake poet Ausonius. Even now, managing director Alain Vauthier says the vines he oversees date back to 1906, when his grandfather planted them. He spoke to the importance terroir plays in the wine and how “Ausone will remain Ausone”. What will change?
